3 Breakfasts for Champions, #ImprovChallenge

Mary Poppins, the legendary Disney nanny sings, “A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down.” As a champion of bringing cheer and comfort to children, she should have added cinnamon spice! When life proves challenging, there is nothing like the comforting aroma of baking cinnamon and sugar.

So, when an e-mail from Kristen of Frugal Antics of a Harried Homemaker slipped into my inbox announcing that cinnamon and sugar were the star ingredients for May’s ImprovChallenge, I was excited.

3 Breakfasts for Champions

Recently, I bookmarked recipes from Katie Goodman of Good Life Eats and Averie Sunshine of Averie Cooks highlighting the fabulousness of the ImprovChallenge ingredients. Today’s cinnamon and sugar breakfast basket of baked goods are guaranteed to bring on the grins and good health to you and your champions.

Gluten-Free Chocolate Minis with Cinnamon Streusel

Click here for Dark Chocolate Muffins with Cinnamon Streusel
from Good Life Eats

These fudgy gems are light and moist thanks to the buttermilk and fine quality chocolate. I used Lindt’s Intense Orange. To highlight the chocolate choice, I poured in ¾ teaspoon of orange extract instead of the called for vanilla. I also substituted gluten-free brown rice flour for all-purpose flour. Instead of full size muffins I made 65 minis that baked at 375 for 15 minutes. P.s. The nutty cinnamony streusel atop of the chocolate muffins is beyond!

Baked with love and topped with cinnamon sugar.

Click here for Whole Wheat Cinnamon Sugar Baked Doughnuts
from Good Life Eats

The Greek yogurt and whole-wheat flour make this doughnut taste so wholesome. And the accents of cinnamon and nutmeg are lovely. The cake-like treats dipped in butter, cinnamon and sugar are the perfect morning starter or snack-time pick-me-up.

Featherlight bread with cinnamon sugar crust and ribbons.

Click here for Cinnamon Sugar Crust Cinnamon Ribbon Bread
from Averie Cooks

Happiness is cutting into feathery bread marbled with cinnamon sugar. Bliss is biting into the cinnamon sugar crust! Need I say more? P.s. There is a distinct, delectable nutmeg accent to this bread. If you prefer a sweeter taste on the tongue, consider skipping the nutmeg.

The Ninja Baker’s 3 breakfasts for champions may very well have you holding your head a little higher. Other ImprovChallenge participants’ recipes are sure to be winners, too.

Wishing you comfort plus a spoonful or two of cinnamon and sugar during challenging times.
